It depends on what you are hoping to see. For a gender 16 weeks is the best time but I will look as early as 14 weeks. For 3D/4D we can look at any time during the pregnancy but the best time for cute face pictures is between 28-32 weeks. I have seen great face pictures all the way up to 38 weeks but that is not always the case.

I always tell my moms to drink plenty of water in the days leading up to the ultrasound, to drink juice if you can or very cold water about 30 minutes prior, and come in with a full bladder. All of these will help with fluid and hopefully wake baby up for better images.

No! This ultrasound is only for entertainment and bonding purposes. I am a registered sonographer but I am not a doctor. I however do require that you have a regular doctor before I will scan you. If I see something of concern I will contact you doctor and leave it up to them to go from there. As I said this is in no way diagnostic.

I have very rarely not been able to get good pictures of a baby but there a certain instances where a baby will turn completely away the whole scan or it will refuse to allow me to see the gender for a gender scan. If you come in during the recommend time frame (14+weeks for gender 28-32 face) I will offer a rescan at no charge the following week.
